They don't work

New year's resolutions suck - they never work.. considering.. it's been 2 weeks since my last blog and I ate about 10 pieces of chocolate yesterday.. oops :) Although, I did buy a binder and some colored tabs yesterday, so being organized is still a possibility!

I decided I'm going to be in the MSU Arts & Crafts show May 16th & 17th. I have to send in the application, and I'm not sure if it's juried or not, but I hope I can get in! I'll be one busy bee getting ready for it.

I just created a facebook page for Brown Joey Designs and I'm hoping to generate some more views to my Etsy site. I also hung up a flyer with some of my business cards attached in a local coffee shop. And.. I met with a local artist last weekend who gave me some of his really cool glass pendants he made.. and he wants ME to make necklaces that match! How exciting!

Ok.. time to eat lunch!

So am I horrible at this blogging thing or what?! New year's resolution #2 - Work harder at blogging (with #1 being becoming a healthier person).

It's 2009 - how quickly did 2008 pass us by? I am glad to start a new year - it's always refreshing to think you can start all over. This year, I'm really going to focus on becoming a real business - I'm really excited! Which brings me to...

New year's resolution #3 - become more organized! I am vowing to keep track of sales, trends (what people are buying more of), and organizing my home in preparation for motherhood! I'm making a promise to myself that when we have children, everything is going to be super organized.. think it's possible? Yah, I don't either, but I'm going to try my best.

New year's resolution #4 - sell brown joey jewelry in art shows! I looked up the Ann Arbor art festival online tonight (yes, it's a very exciting Saturday night...) and I about died.. $625 for a space!! *gulp* guess I'll have to wait until I'm a "business" (see N.Y.R. #3). :)

Until next time...

New Jewelry!

I haven't worked the past couple of days, so I spent my time relaxing and making new jewelry! I've made 2 Christmas charm bracelets, and quite a few necklaces & earrings using silver plated chains.. which by the way is my new favorite material to make jewelry! It is so fun to sit down in front of my bajillion beads and pick out which ones look good together to form a masterpiece! Pictures will be posted soon.. if Mr. Sun ever decides to come out and grace me with some natural light!

I've signed up to do a craft show in Chesaning, November 28th & 29th. My friend, Haley, and I will be selling our Etsy goods. If you're in the area, come by and see us!

Ok.. that's it for now. Back to jewelry making!

Showcase Success!

I went to a shopping showcase this weekend at an attempt to sell my jewelry.. and I sold about 10 pieces! It was such a great feeling to hear so many positive comments about my creations! Hopefully this is a forecast for future sales! :)

I'm brand spankin' new!

Ok, so this is my new blog and my first post! Let me tell you a bit about myself.. I made the decision a couple of years ago to go back to college and get my teaching certificate, which I just finished this spring. Now, unfortunately, I can't find a job! So, relying on my inner creative instinct, I thought it would be fun to make jewelry. I can tell you I'm absolutely loving this decision! I'm fairly new to this.. I just opened up shop on Etsy about a month ago. Hey, speaking of that, check out my site!

I'm new at this and it may take me awhile to get used to blogging, but I hope you'll stay and enjoy my progress!
